Johnny Hartz Søraker is assistant professor of philosophy of technology at the Department of Philosophy, University of Twente. He did his PhD as member of a VICI project on the Evaluation of the Cultural Quality of New Media, working on the sub-project “The Value of Virtual Worlds and Entities” - dealing with the epistemological, ontological and axiological nature of virtual worlds. Søraker has primarily worked on philosophy of technology and computer ethics, and has published and lectures extensively on related topics - including the philosophy of virtual worlds, Internet regulation and the moral status of information technology.
Currently, Søraker primary research interest lies in evaluating the impact of technology on well-being through a synthesis of research in (positive) psychology, philosophy of technology and philosophy of mind.
